#GOALS: Why I plan to try LESS in 2017

#GOALS: Why I plan to try LESS in 2017

2016 started out like this:

"Omigosh. This is gonna be my best year EVER!"

Then it ended like this:

(It didn’t go quite how I’d expected.)

Throughout 2016 I had SO many things outside my control go haywire — relationships, the new President of the United States — that by November I was BEGGING for it all to be over.

Now, last year may not have sucked for you. I know plenty of people who had wonderfully amazing things happen to them in 2016 — as any year has the possibility of bringing.

But for those of you, like me, who happened to have faced a more challenging 2016, please know there are some gems to be found in your suffering:

1.

You're a tough bitch.

2.

You're still alive.

and 3.

Congratulations, you no longer have to try so hard! (Shit already hit the fan anyway...)

There's an odd peace to be found in times of chaos.

You might be struggling to hold something together (or ensure it goes your way), only to find that the harder you try, the worse things get.

And though your life feels totally out of control, once everything has officially crashed and burned, the sweetest relief comes to you. ("At least now it's over.")

That's the thing about life. No matter how hard you work, no matter how good of a person you are, bad things happen anyway.

You can be the most deserving, amazing woman ever, and things will still fall apart.

You'll lose money, get betrayed or rejected, and have people talk shit behind your back.

It's not fair, and it really hurts, but there's nothing you can do to stop it. The world does what it wants.

I know that sounds jaded, but hear me out, cause there's a silver lining to it:

When you let go of avoiding suffering — when you stop trying to prove your worth — life is easier.

You can safely go out into the world and say "fuck it, I'm enough," knowing that you don't have to try so hard to avoid the things you don't have control over anyway.

You can let go of the tension in your back or the cramp in your stomach, and relax into a peaceful, warm space in which you're free to simply be yourself, doing whatever the heck you want.

It's a new year and a new energy, and YOU get to dictate both.

So go grab 2017 by the balls, and shine on, amazing.

xx
